Wednesday's Words

Hope's Door

Purple RibbonHope’s Door is a safe haven for families suffering from the abuse of family violence. They offer direct intervention and protective services to the families of Collin County. Victim’s services are offered free of charge. If you are a victim of abuse call their hotline at 972-422-7233 (SAFE).

The statistics on family violence are alarming. It is believed that 1 in 3 women have been victims of abuse at some point in their lives. On average, 3 or more women are murdered by their intimate partners every day...in the United States. Millions of children witness abuse each year. These numbers are staggering leaving one to wonder what they can do to help.

Here at Keller Williams Central Market Center in Plano, Texas Hope’s Door was selected to be the recipient of our acts of kindness in honor of Red Day. Red Day is a tradition with Keller Williams in honor of their CEO, Mo Anderson’s birthday.

A collection of professional attire has been underway for several weeks now. Other personal items i.e., toothpaste, deodorant has also been collected. The collections will be delivered to the center to assist women in their search for employment and personal care. In addition a group of volunteers including myself will be going over to assist in painting and cleaning some of the rooms in the shelter. These efforts are small in comparison to the need. If you would like to contribute or learn more click on the link for Hope’s Door.
